Ever since I moved to the Netherlands, the North part of Amsterdam has held a special place in my heart. Just by crossing the river Ij, you are transported to a fascinating mix of gritty warehouses, lush countryside and quaint villages. The NDSM (Nederlandsche Dok en Scheepsbouw Maatschappij) has historical importance as an innovative shipbuilding wharf. These days it is one of the city’s most vibrant and certainly unique areas. It boasts its very own artists in residence, a staggering number of festivals and ground-breaking experiments in sustainability. For a photographer, it is a dream come true with its textures, colors and eccentricity!

There was no better place for a creative love shoot with Ru and Alex, an Irish-Polish couple who recently settled in Amsterdam. They simply fell in love with the city on their first visit and couldn’t resist moving  here, even after living in exotic places such as Rome and Barcelona. After visiting classic Amsterdam together, I wanted them to experience its alternative side. No regrets there; we had a total blast exploring and creating these atmospheric images. They embraced in SEXYLAND (!), dreamed at Faralda (a one-of-a-kind crane turned luxury hotel) and danced among the graffiti. Finally we stopped for a top notch dinner at Noorderlicht cafe : GEZELLIG!
